Event Terms & Conditions

1. About these terms

These Event Terms & Conditions govern registrations for and attendance at events organised by Bolden. They apply to all Bolden events unless a particular event has its own specific terms, in which case those terms supplement or replace these where stated. These terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Website Terms of Use.

2. About Bolden

Bolden develops and operates publishing platforms, professional convenings, trusted networks, and related professional services across Africa and internationally. Unless stated otherwise, events are organised by: Bolden Group (Pty) Ltd Plot 3066, Extension 11, Gaborone, Botswana P O Box 26382, Gaborone, Botswana Email: mail@bolden.world

3. Registration

Registration is complete only when your registration has been accepted, payment has been received where applicable, and you have received confirmation from Bolden. We may decline registrations where attendance is limited, selection criteria apply, or registration information is incomplete. Registration confirmations, badges, and other attendance credentials remain the property of Bolden and may not be transferred, copied, or misused.

4. Invitations

Some Bolden events are invitation only. An invitation is personal unless otherwise stated, may not be transferred without our approval, and does not create any ongoing right to attend future events.

5. Event fees

Where attendance requires payment, prices are shown during registration, payment must be made using the methods offered, and invoices may be issued where agreed. Unless stated otherwise, fees include attendance only. Accommodation, transport, and other personal costs remain your responsibility.

6. Substitutions

If you cannot attend, you may request that another person attend in your place. Substitutions are subject to availability, the suitability of the substitute attendee, and approval by Bolden. Some invitation-only events may not permit substitutions.

7. Cancellations by you

If you cancel your registration, refund arrangements will be those published for the relevant event. Where no refund policy has been published, refunds are at Bolden’s discretion, taking account of costs already incurred. If you simply do not attend, fees are generally non-refundable.

8. Changes or cancellation by Bolden

Occasionally circumstances require changes. We may change the programme, substitute speakers or moderators, change the venue, change the date or time, or postpone or cancel the event. If this happens, we will take reasonable steps to inform registered participants.

If an event is cancelled by Bolden and cannot reasonably proceed, we will refund registration fees already paid unless the event terms state otherwise. Our liability is limited to registration fees actually paid. We are not responsible for travel, accommodation, or other costs incurred.

9. Speakers

Views expressed by speakers are their own. They do not necessarily represent the views of Bolden or other participants.

10. Photography and recording by Bolden

Bolden events may be photographed, filmed, or recorded for editorial, documentary, and promotional purposes. Reasonable notice will be provided. Where practicable, attendees who do not wish to be photographed should inform our team. If we intend to use an identifiable attendee as the principal subject of promotional material, we may seek separate permission.

11. Conduct

We ask everyone attending a Bolden event to contribute to a respectful and professional environment. You must not harass or intimidate others, disrupt the programme, behave aggressively, damage property, or engage in unlawful conduct. We may ask anyone whose conduct is inconsistent with the event’s purpose to leave without refund.

12. Confidentiality

Many Bolden events encourage candid discussion. Unless a session is expressly described as public, participants should respect the confidentiality of discussions, remarks should not be attributed without permission, and private conversations should remain private. This expectation helps maintain trust.

13. Respecting the conversation

Many Bolden events are designed to encourage candid discussion between participants. Unless we indicate otherwise, attendees should not record discussions, livestream sessions, or attribute remarks to individuals without their permission. We believe thoughtful conversations are more valuable when participants can speak openly and responsibly. Media attendance, recording, and reporting arrangements are determined by Bolden in advance.

14. Intellectual property

Presentations, publications, photographs, recordings, and other event materials remain the intellectual property of Bolden or their respective owners. They may not be reproduced or distributed without permission.

15. Health and safety

Attendees should comply with reasonable venue requirements and safety instructions. If an emergency occurs, please follow the directions of venue staff and event organisers.

16. Accessibility

If you have accessibility or dietary requirements, please let us know before the event. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate them.

17. Privacy

Personal information collected during registration and event administration is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at bolden.world.

18. Force majeure

Bolden is not responsible for delays, postponements, or cancellations caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. These may include severe weather, natural disasters, government restrictions, strikes, public health emergencies, venue failure, or power or communications failures.

19. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it. Subject to that, attendance is at your own risk, Bolden is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, and liability is limited to registration fees actually paid. Nothing affects rights you have under applicable consumer law.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time as Bolden grows. The current version will always be available at bolden.world, with the effective date shown at the top.

21. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Botswana, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Botswana courts, without affecting any mandatory rights available under applicable law.
